Seed starting potluck and presentations

On January 30, 2009 seventeen residents and Matt got together for a potluck and discussion of permaculture and seed starting.

Sarah and Neil first gave a presentation on permaculture principles and their NW Portland grower's collective Farmageddon. Later, we moved to the garden room for a demonstration and discussion of seed starting. We viewed the set up which includes a heating mat and grow lights. Neil discussed the different media for starting seeds and showed his lettuce and leek starts. Residents are encouraged to set up a flat or two of seed starts. Neil will be posting his schedule for future starts and a guide when to start different seeds in the coming weeks.
