City Riparian Permaculture Design Workshop
On October 11, 2009, about 30 volunteers showed up for breakfast and a permaculture design charette as part of City Repair's Village Planting Convergence, also known as City Riparian 2009. Mike Thayer of Ammonite Design led the workshop. He first described an overview of the permaculture design process and permaculture principles. Then the participants toured the site to better understand the existing conditions and physical layout of the property. Finally, we broke up into five teams, each of which developed a plan for part of or the entire site. Each team presented their design. Highlights included innovative schemes for harvesting rainwater, and various ideas on the design of the community garden, playground, orchard, and swales.
