Community garden
The first community garden was installed in June 2009 surrounding the old swimming pool where an all weather picnic table has been installed. Nine individual plots were included in the remodeling of this area and all were conscientiously gardened. One gardener had not been able to garden since childhood. One gardener was completely new to gardening. In addition to the individual plots, the lower terraces were planted with sweet corn and green beans. One pleasant surprise was that the garden area became a lively gathering node for the community.
The corner of this area was planted with a dwarf pear tree and the fence was planted with several varieties of grapes and heavenly blue morning glories after perimeter irrigation piping was installed.

Our community garden will expand in 2010 with the addition of 30 new keyhole garden plots in the front area by the street. We anticipate having enough capacity to accommodate neighbors interested in gardening. If you are interested in joining the community garden, please review the Community Garden Etiquette and Sign-up and then contact us.
